What is a blog anyway? Typically it is a form of diary.
The purpose of this blog is to document the progress of research into the Lisbona family from Syria and Egypt and , presumably, originally from Portugal before the
expulsion of Jews in 1497 and the Lisbona mansion in Damascus. See also
History of the Jews of Portugal .
David Lisbona started to document the Lisbona family tree in the 1980's and David's work was much improved and enriched by the researches of Maurice Hazan z"l of Paris, a French Sephardi genealogist and Lydia Collins of London, who published in 1987 her book the Sephardim of Manchester with an extensive chapter with family trees on the Lisbonas.
Much credit should be given also to Alain Farhi who has done remarkable work in documenting the family trees of Jews of the Ottoman Empire (including the Lisbonas) on his remarkable website
Les Fleurs de l'Orient .
Over time David made contact with Lisbona family members all over the world and has updates the family trees which are on MyHeritage.com and geni.com
In 2016 the research received an impetus from David's meeting various family members in Brazil (Alain Bigio and Diane Kupferman) and contacts generated with Lisbona family members Sharon Benush and Eilon Levy.
David, Sharon and Eilon are actively researching the family , and the house in Damascus.
